Hermona is an emerging singer-songwriter based in Harlem, New York City. Hailing from Washington DC, this Ethiopian-Amerian artist is about to steal your heart with her sweet, soulful vocals. Hermona started her musical adventure as a child playing the piano. Now as an adult, she has taught herself how to play the guitar and the ukulele. While Hermona has only started learning the bass (and soon, the cello), that hasn’t stopped her from recording some of her first few tracks in her home studio. Hermona’s performance at DROM was absolutely show-stopping. Hermona’s style calls for minimal instrumentals, while she lets her voice do all the heavy lifting. Drawing on inspirations such as SZA and Solange, Hermona has crafted her voice to render a quiet stillness that draws you in. She left the audience wanting more with every note! Hermona beautifully played all original tracks, such as ‘The Best,’ ‘Noise’ and ‘Home.’ Hermona may be new to the New York music scene, but she is no stranger to music. Don’t let her be a stranger to your headphones! Hermona is the next up and coming artist to check out. She will have a new EP, “Freedom of Failure,” due to be released in early 2020.
