About Rachel

Rachel "Cabbage" Scott-Mohammed was born in Ruston, LA, but grew up in St. Joseph, MO. Fresh out of high school, Rachel moved to the "Big Apple" in 2008. At the time, she thought she wanted to be an actress. However, after a year of acting school, Rachel discovered it was actually the other side of the camera that she really loved.

After graduating from School of Visual Arts in 2013, Rachel began her journey of being a photographer and videomaker. She currently resides with the love of her life, Nick, and their cats, Batman & Lil’ Spooky, in Queens, NY.

Personal Statement

I’ve always been moved by the actual translation of the word “photography.” It comes from the Greek words phot and graph, which roughly translates to “draw with light.” Realizing this, it dawned on me that if light is present then all I had to do was click a button.

Life gives us beautiful moments. A rock star rolls on the floor during a solo, a dancer stretches to the fullest lengths of their body, a beautiful person sports a stylish outfit, friends laughing in the park, the clouds reflect on the windows of a skyscraper on a nice day…

For me, a photo isn’t just a picture - it’s a memory that gives us the ability to time travel to the past. If there is light, then we can capture moments and keep them always. When I click that button, I’m capturing the soul of a scene that we can revisit anytime.

Also, my favorite color is green.
